This last January was, at 3.1C above normal, officially NZ's warmest month on record. Anyone know of other examples of months with great departures from normal, both below and above normal. For NZ as a whole.

NIWA should be able to supply a list. April 1956 and December 1934 are starting suggestions. Almost certainly no month has deviated by more than the 3.1C.
Laughably, some idiot on the ZB network pumped out a piece on "have the holidays in February because it's warmer …. etc" near the end of January, obviously having no regard for the current realities.
