Most of the homes and businesses that had power cut following severe weather in the North Island have had their electricity restored.
About 110 Powerco customers remained without power on Thursday afternoon but that was down from about 700 who were in the dark following days of severe weather which damaged the network.
A statement by the electricity lines company says about 50 customers in Tauranga and Te Puke should have power restored by Thursday night.
Another 60 in Taranaki and Wairarapa remain without electricity.
"Reports of more damage are still coming in, but we're making steady progress reconnecting customers once we know where the repairs are needed," Powerco network operations manager Phil Marsh says.
Roads across the North Island affected by flooding earlier this week have reopened.
MetService predicts mainly fine weather throughout New Zealand on Friday, although some heavy rain could hit Taranaki, Nelson and northern Marlborough on Thursday evening.
Good News to hear this.
