I have been playing with a dashboard designed for Ipads and Tablets but works well on PCs and Laptops as well that some of you may be interested in.

"Built on Flex Webkit using jquery with a smart layout to do and see what you want, no hidden pages, no hours of searching for or uploading data, simply displays your weather station output from your raw text file realtime.txt or clientraw.txt."

Easy to setup. One file to configure with your station details and then upload all to your server.
However there are 2 x cron jobs necessary so your server will need to support cron jobs.

You will also need an account with weather underground and an API key.

Thanks Jenny, I quite liked that so I thought I would give it a go. I have it up and running, and checked with my WebHost and have CRON, so I have loaded the two CRON jobs,

php -q/home/xxxxxxx/public_html/pws/cronfiles/stationcron.php
php -q/home/xxxxxxx/public_html/pws/cronfiles/forecastcron.php

site is at coromandeltownweather.net/pws/index.php

but they don't seem to be kicking in, "error in argument 1 char 3:option not found /
any tips for a rookie?

Hi Peter,

Loading your realtime.txt no problem.
Each time one of the cron jobs runs are you getting email?
What are the error messages in your email.

You can stop the emails by adding
> /dev/null 2>&1

but wait until running.

Double check settings.php
Make sure timezone correct
'Pacific/Auckland';

Did you add your WU api key.

Hi Jenny,

Yes I was getting emails. I set the interval at 1 minute while testing, and have scaled it back to hourly now as I am popping down to Wellington now until Friday. The error message was :error in argument 1 char 3:option not found /"

Quite like the look of this so have decided to have a play.
Could not access the download last night, was redirecting to something else on his site.

@ Peter,
Today it is not reading your realtime.txt.
Put the full path into settings and upload the file.

Your cron jobs are correct yet not functioning. Email your server and see if they can help.

Also the cumulus forum has pages on this template.

I was unable to get the cron jobs to function on one of my servers. Although setup correct the server appeared to be unable to read folders and files going backwards * shrug*
Anyways check with your server once home.

Wow! Thanks to Jenny for all the help. Now got my own Dashboard link on the site. Looks great on iPad/iPhone/mobile (Android) and desktop. Iwanui, Waitara. Taranaki. New Zealand HOME WEATHER STATION

Hrrrmpphhhhh!!
Can't seem to do anything with the downloaded files, a bit bloo&y weird.
Tried a second download . . . no difference.

Maybe my Windoze XP doesn't handle the latest zip files ??

Appeared to download completely, but could only copy a couple of files.
Now can't delete the folders I did copy, but files have deleted.

Installed 7 Zip and away we went.

Now have it working on Localhost in white, still like it

, checking stuff . . .
Looking to change Earthquake data from global to NZ, haven't found any setting yet.
Any suggestions ??

Have you set up those 2 cron jobs.
Once up and running they will update your earthquake section with NZ quakes.

Don't think I can run cron jobs from localhost with my setup, so next step is upload to host server, sort out cron's, & then all should be sweet.

Here is mine KomokaWeather HOME WEATHER STATION

I have been testing for the author for a while and he has and is adding a few new things as he gets time. I use www.cron-job.org for the cron jobs which is free and quite good and verrry easy to set up.

hi thanks to jenny for pointing to here

my name is brian and developed the homeweatherstation template over the last year it, it has evolved and probably will evolve more but each bit at a time .

i live istanbul turkey been here for 10 years prior to that born and lived in the UK (Kent) , been a weather hobbyist since teen years where i started collecting analogue barometers accumulated some 170+ some of value but most just a collection unfortunately i was not able to bring those to istanbul so donated the whole lot to a charity shop !

im not a weather guru but understand the basics and now living in istanbul where the seasons are only 2 ! summer and a short winter where temperatures in december january can vary from -5 to 25c its that diverse .

anyway any problems i will do my best to help and resolve , the most common issue is cron jobs different server configurations produce different results a bit like Operating systems . earthquake info was originally included as I live on a fault line thats active lost count of how many times Ive woken from a short tremor but in 1999 one half of istanbul was flattened the epicentre was 60km from here , so thats the interest there.

i will in september october introduce newer ideas but as its summer and the humidity of the night makes difficult to sit in front of screen for any length of time.. good to see other enthusiast about..

Do either of those Cron jobs have anything to do with the weather forecast?
I notice on your site that the temps are in C whereas my setup shows them as F. Can't see anything in the setup file for it.
I think my NAS box is able to handle Cron jobs, but I'll have to google how to do it.

Just having a play with it, but it doesn't look too bad
