Coming from an area of quite highs and lows in weather here in Ontario Canada, Australia was known to us to be an exotic and very warm/hot place. Then 11 years ago, June 6th 2005 we traveled there for our son's wedding in Sydney. The weather wasn't hot but very nice. After the wedding we drove to our new daughter-in-law's home town, Parkes, NSW and going through
Lithgow past the Blue Mountains. When we arrived in Parkes it was quite cold and rainy. On the way back to Sydney and going through
Lithgow it was now getting real cold. While we didn't see it ourselves we did read the next day that there had been snow falling in that area. A total different impression than what we had been led to believe from story telling and fairy tales

Now our story telling of NZ is from beautiful seaside tropical beaches to treacherous snow covered maintain peeks. Don't have another son for getting married and reason for traveling, but will have to put it on my bucket list to visit when I fully retire - if that will ever happen!
