New Plymouth: Some sun for a bit in the afternoon, 19 degrees maximum so quite a drop from last few days.
Wind built up from the SE locally and is 55 to 72 km/hr.  Nothing over 93 km/hr recorded so far at Cape Egmont.

More great reporting from Aunty Herald - that photo is at least four years old, the bridge on the left was demolished in 2008 after the new bypass was built ;)

Cloud built up again from the early hours of the morning, to be 8/8 by dawn. Overcast grey and still at first, then light rain commenced from around 1100, accompanied by a light SW breeze. Rain became persistent from the middle of the day, with a few brief heavier bursts. By dusk the wind was backing from SSW to SSE, and freshening, with rain continuing. Mild pm temps.
