Occasional rain, becoming persistent later.

Gisborne and Hawkes Bay
High cloud. Scattered rain developing towards evening.

Taranaki to Wellington, including Wairarapa and Marlborough
Patchy rain spreading east today, becoming widespread in Horowhenua Kapiti Coast, Wellington and Marlborough this evening.

Nelson
Rain, with some heavy falls about western ranges, clearing this evening.

Buller to Fiordland
Rain with heavy falls, turning to showers later today with possible thunderstorms in the south.

Canterbury to Southland
Patchy rain in the west this morning, otherwise fine with high cloud. Showers developing in Southland overnight.
