Occasional showers with small hail, retreating to the coast this afternoon. Snow above about 800 metres.

Taranaki, Wanganui, Manawatu, Horowhenua Kapiti Coast, Wellington, Taihape, Hawkes Bay and Wairarapa
A few showers in Wellington, South Taranaki and Wairarapa coast. Mainly fine elsewhere, but areas of morning and evening cloud.

The South Island
Mostly fine with frosts morning and night. A few light showers developing about the fiords during the day.

Chatham Islands
Occasional showers.
