The northern North Island, from Taranaki and Taupo northwards, including Bay of Plenty
Periods of rain, with heavy falls and possible squally thunderstorms. Strong or gale northerlies.

Gisborne to Wairarapa
Occasional rain.

Wanganui and Taihape to Wellington, also Marlborough, Nelson, Buller and northern Westland
Periods of rain, heavy and possibly thundery at times. Northerly gales about Wellington and the Marlborough Sounds.

Southern Westland
Occasional showers, clearing this evening.

Canterbury and eastern Otago
Heavy rain about the Alps easing this morning, and patchy rain elsewhere at first. However, widespread rain developing this afternoon or evening, possibly heavy.

Remainder of Otago, also Southland and Fiordland
Mostly cloudy with occasional showers.
