RESULTS

Match 21 -  India vs United Arab Emirates - 28 Feb at Perth
The UAE won the toss & decided to bat . . .
Hmm, 1 down in the 2nd, 2 down in the 4th, 3 down in the 10th, 4 down in the 15th, 41 for 4, struggling!!
The UAE continued to struggle, eventually all out for 102 in the 32nd over, top score of 35 going to Shaiman Anwar.
India breezed to that total in the 19th over for 1 wicket with Sharma making 57 not out.
An easy win to India.

Match    21st Match, Pool B: India v United Arab Emirates at Perth, Feb 28, 2015 | Cricket Scorecard | ESPN Cricinfo

Match 22 -  England vs Sri Lanka - 1 Mar at Wellington
The Poms won the toss & decided to bat.
They made reasonably steady progress reaching 145 for 3 after the 30th over & 204 for 4 at the 40th.
Not a bad run rate at around 5 per over. They finished at 309 for 6 with Joe Rootmaking 121.
The Sri Lankans took a slow & steady approach to the first few overs, 28 for no wicket after the 7th.
However, they soon knuckled down & got in to their work, & were 93 without loss after the 17th.
Aliclaimed Dilshan in the next over for 44, 100 for 1.
That was as good as it got for England, Sri Lanka knocking off the total in the 48th over without further loss.
So a comfortable win for Sri Lanka, with Thirimanne on 139, & Sangakkara on 117 both not out.
A win to Sri Lanka by 9 wickets.

Match 22nd Match, Pool A: England v Sri Lanka at Wellington, Mar 1, 2015 | Cricket Scorecard | ESPN Cricinfo

23 -  Pakistan vs Zimbabwe - 1 Mar at Brisbane
The Paki's won the toss & decide to bat.
Zimbabwe had them feeling the heat early with Jamshed gone for 1 in the 2nd over, & the other opener Shehzad out for a duck in the 4th.
So, 4 runs for 2 down. After 10 overs 14 for 2, after 20 they were 58 for 2 !!
Sohail went first ball of the next over for 27, & they slowly built to 113 for 3 at the 30th.
Akmal fell in the 34th followed by BoomBoom Afridi for a duck 2 balls later, 127 for 5.
They lost a couple more, & finished on 235 for 7 at the close.
Zimbabwe were equally unimpressive in their start, being 2 down for 28 after 10 overs.
They continued to struggle & were eventually all out for 215 in the last over.

So, neither team played to their potential, but for Pakistan, Misbah-ul-Haq managed a 73 to & Riaz a 54.
Of the Zimbabwe batsmen, Taylor scored a 50 & next best was Chigumbura on 35.
So a slightly better conversion rate & scoring rate to The Pakistanis, & a reasonably comfortable win.

Match 24 -  Ireland vs South Africa - 3rd March at Canberra
So, the Paddys up against the Bokkies, and what are the chances for Ireland ??
The Bokkies won the toss & decided to bat & away they went.
First wicket down in the 3rd over, de Kock caught behind for 1 (after a review), 12 for 1, great start !!
Unfortunately for the Shamrocks, Amla & du Plessis went on a bit of smack fest & added some 250 odd runs before du Plessis was bowled by K O'Brien for 109 in the 39th over. SA on 259 for 2, Amla on 141 with 11 overs left. Amla was out caught at long off for 159 in the 42nd over, De Villiers went shortly after for 24, 301 for 4. Then Miller & Rossouw threw the willow, final tally - 411 for 4.

A big ask for the Paddys, that sort of total for a qualifying team, what pressure must they be feeling  . .
And so it proved. They had lost 3 wickets for 21 by the 5th over. They lost 4 more by the 31st over, 7 down for 150. By this stage there was no hope & they were all out for 210 in the 45th over. Balbirnie made 58, next best was K O'Brien with 48.
A bit of a walk over for the Bokkies.

Match    24th Match, Pool B: Ireland v South Africa at Canberra, Mar 3, 2015 | Cricket Scorecard | ESPN Cricinfo

Match 25 -  Pakistan vs United Arab Emirates - 4th March at Napier
Another game where the result would seem obvious . . .
The UAE won the toss & chose to bowl. They managed to winkle out Jamshed in the 4th over but it was pretty bleak from then on. Shehzad made 93, Sohail 70, Maqsood 45, & Misbah-ul-Haq 65, & with a flurry from a few more Pakistan made 339 for 6 down.

The UAE struggled early with a slow run rate, 15 without loss after 6 overs. They lost Ali in the 7th, Berenger in the 8th, & Chandran in the 10th, 25 for 3 down. The middle order did ok, with Khan making 43, Anwar 62, Patil 36, & Javed 40 but they finished their 50 overs at 210 for 8 down.
So a comfortable win for Pakistan by 129 runs.

Match    25th Match, Pool B: Pakistan v United Arab Emirates at Napier, Mar 4, 2015 | Cricket Scorecard | ESPN Cricinfo

Match 26 -  Australia vs Afghanistan - 4th March at Perth
And yet another game where the result would seem obvious . . . canon fodder for the Aussies ??
The Afghans won the toss & decided to bowl. And it probably didn't matter what they decide to do . . .
In the early overs, they did ok, keeping things under control, & they snared Finch in the 3rd for 4 runs.
So Aussie 1 down for 14. Unfortunately for the UAE, Warner & Smith went  a tad ballistic through the next 30 something overs. Warner was finally caught for 178 in the 38th over, Smith on 81, Aussie 274 for 2.
Smith finally went for 95 in the 43rd, Maxwell was gone for 88 in the 48the, & Aussie made 417 for 6.

So what could Afghanistan muster up in reply ??
Well, it was a slow start, & they lost their first in the 7th over, 2nd in the 8th & 3rd in the 10th, 46 for 3 after 11.
They struggled on until being all out for 142 in the 38th over, top score was Mangal with 33.
So a bit of a white wash by Aussie, a win by 275 runs.

Match    26th Match, Pool A: Australia v Afghanistan at Perth, Mar 4, 2015 | Cricket Scorecard | ESPN Cricinfo

Match 27 -  Bangladesh vs Scotland - 5th March at Nelson
Now, if Scotland could bring their A game, this was a game for the taking !!
Bangladesh won the toss & decided to bowl.
The Kilted ones had a slow start, losing their first wicket in the 3rd over, their second in the 10th,2 down for 39. They muddled through for a few overs but opener Coetzer began to find his touch. They lost their 3rd in the 24th over, Machan gone for 35, 116 for 3, Coetzer not out on 48. Next out was Mommsen for for 38 in the 43rd, Coetzer not out on 148, Scotland 257 for 4. Coetzer was out in the 45th for 156, a great knock, & they ended up 318 for 8 down at the close.

In reply, the Scots nicked out opener Sarkar for 2, but struggled to make inroads. Iqbal made 95 & Mahmudullah 62. At 50 overs, Al Hasan was 52 not out & Rahman 42. They reached their target in the 49th over, 322 for 4 wickets.
So a comfortable win to Bangladesh by 6 wickets.

Match    27th Match, Pool A: Bangladesh v Scotland at Nelson, Mar 5, 2015 | Cricket Scorecard | ESPN Cricinfo
