RESULTWell now, what can you say, huh?? Except maybe . . . . (holler)
Black Caps, Black Caps, Black Caps etc etc
So,
England won the toss, & thought . . . right oh boyoo, we gonna bat.
Yep, good idea, put a decent score up & hope for a bit of dew early evening . . . . great plan!!
However, our bowlers had a somewhat different idea about how things would go.
Tim Southee snared both openers by the 7th over & Boult grabbed another in the 14th, score 57 for 3 down.
We then had a few more overs by Vettori, Milne, Boult & Anderson.
Vettori took Morgans wicket courtesy of a diving catch from Milne. 26 overs gone & the Poms were 104 for 4.
What followed was absolutely sublime.
Until now,
Tim Southee had bowled 5 overs for 2 wickets and 23 runs.
His next 4 overs yielded 5 wickets for 10 runs. An absolutely brilliant period of swing bowling & almost unplayable!!
He finished with 7 wickets for 33 runs from 9 overs

So, the Poms at 119 for 9 down . . . . then Milne quickly mopped up the tail , & all out for 123 in the 34th.
If you haven't heard, our man
Brendon knocked off most of the runs in reply, with 77 runs off 39 balls.
He broke his own record for the fastest 50 in a World Cup match.

So we've put the Poms to the sword, and rather easily too!!
