Results – December Photo Competition & the Year ending 2014

Intrepid gained first and Bett Second in December's Photo Competition.
Overall Bett scored 14 points and Intrepid 11.

The Leader Board as at the end of December and for the year 2014 is as follows:

I dont think our Intrepid is the problem. Monthly competitions have their own score board regardless of the overall year tally.
Intrepid, entries in the Photo Competitions have slowly dwindled down to a few, likewise participation in a few other other topics.

I had already made some decisions re the photo competition but not going so much on entries but on how many vote. For the last few months an average of 7 voted. Take away Babs and I that leave 5 other members voting. Sorry but that is pretty pathetic.

The photo Competitions are a huge time guzzler for me. Laying out the polls are all done in code.
So maybe we could look at a 3 monthly competition and see how it goes.
I have knocked back the entries per month to 3 also.

Intrepid, watch, if we get a few entries then go for it. Same with you Bett
Otherwise we will just flag these competitions and upload to the Gallery categories instead.

I am also looking at stopping the Bonus game for the same reason. The last few weeks prior to Christmas entries had fallen. I left it for 3 weeks and tried again the week before last and again very little interest. This also is a time guzzler for me.

You do such a great job on here Jenny for which we are all very grateful.

I can't write code or do anything clever on Web sites or forums but you have my full support

Here's a thought...

Keep the competition titles the same (Jan, Feb, March...etc...but tally up the 'likes' each photo gets...nice and simple and no extra work on anybody's part. 

Sure its open and subject to possible misuse but its a easy way to gauge readers response to each photo. 

Leave it a month, perhaps, and then decide which photos are the winners.  Don't announce that the competition voting is open...just leave it to everyone to either 'Like' , or not, each photo.

Been thinking on this intrepid.
It would have to be done by the ratings.

So maybe suggest as photos come in, members view them and give them a rating.
If they dont like. Dont rate.
Maybe only run 4 competitions a year. 3 months worth.
At the end of each three months see who has the best rating.

Again we are reliant on entries and again on members input.
The fact that 7 members for 2 months voted in the polls means I dont actually like the odds that members will take the time to rate our photos.

Anyone else have ideas.
