Cloudy periods, with drizzle about the ranges, spreading to most places in the evening. Northwest gales in exposed areas.

Buller, Westland and Fiordland
Rain south of the Glaciers, with heavy falls, spreading north to reach Buller this morning. Possible thunderstorms from evening.

Canterbury, Otago and Southland
High cloud. Patchy rain in Southland, spreading to Otago and South Canterbury this afternoon. Northwest gales inland.
