From Northland to Bay of Plenty and down to Kapiti Coast
Showers clearing and becoming mostly fine this afternoon.

Gisborne to Wairarapa, also Wellington, Marlborough and Nelson
Fine weather. West to northwest gales, severe for a time about the Tararua District and southern Hawkes Bay.

Buller, Westland and Fiordland
Periods of rain, heavy and thundery at times. Snow to 800 metres in Fiordland this morning.

Canterbury
High cloud. The odd shower from Banks Peninsula southwards clearing by about dawn.

Otago and Southland
A few showers about Foveaux, but clearing elsewhere by dawn, then isolated showers spreading from the west this afternoon and evening.

Chatham Islands
Rain easing to showers this morning.
