Gisborne, Hawkes Bay
Fine, apart from brief morning rain.

Taranaki to Wellington, also Taihape, Wairarapa, Marlborough and Nelson
Rain, briefly heavy, clearing early morning, then mainly fine, but chance of a shower in the afternoon or evening. Severe northwest gales in exposed parts of Wairarapa, Wellington and Marlborough easing.

Buller, Westland, Fiordland
Showers, heavy at times, with thunderstorms and hail.

Canterbury
Mainly fine, but chance morning showers. However evening showers, possibly heavy and thundery about the coast and Plains.

Otago, Southland
Showers spreading north in the morning, possibly heavy, and thunderstorms for eastern Otago. Snow down to 400 metres at night

Chatham Islands
Mainly fine, but afternoon rain.
