Some of you may remember the six or seven blogs I wrote about four years ago titled What We Have Learnt, they followed Ross's journey through the discovery, operation, after care and radiation of cancer of his tongue.
We learnt that there was one more operation to come to de-bulk the tongue so he could eat and speak better.
We learnt that beards do grow back
We learnt that redundancy wasn't that scary
We learnt that a year long contract in Brisbane was a good idea
We learnt that being apart wasn't a good idea
We learnt that me joining him for the last six months of the contract was an excellent idea
We learnt that a second stroke discovered the cause
We learnt that a hole in the heart was fixed in a day
We learnt that it has been an interesting four years
We have learnt to laugh, love and smile more
And we learnt yesterday the 23 rd of June, the fourth anniversary of the 9 hour operation he went through to remove the cancerous part of his tongue and to rebuild it with part of the muscles and tendons of his left arm, that his grandson was born, a bonny wee boy born at 7.56am weighing 8lb 5oz and Grandad hasn't stopped smiling since!
