More settled weather Monday and Tuesday for NZ but rain will return to the south Island Wednesday with the Winds also picking up around Wellington and Wairarapa.

Mostly sunny day in Howick, a few clouds drifting through at times. Almost up to 18°C with an increasing SW breeze.
Monthly rainfall sits on 23 mm, must be one of the driest Octobers on record...

David was talking about a dry October for Aucklanders so that prompted me to check the met Service figures for New Plymouth that the paper publishes each day:
Rainfall:
October MTD 132.4mm (+20mm above average)
YTD: 1092.6mm (117mm below average)

Sunshine: continues to be a very sunny year, even more than last:
October MTD: 172.4hrs (+13 hrs)
YTD: 2059.8 hrs (+360hrs)

This year (and last) one came to expect Sunshine not matter what
