Repeat High wind gust reading after power failure
« on: October 14, 2013, 06:35:21 PM »
WD Main Screen Wind Readings.
-----------------------------------------

We had some pretty high winds today repeating last months events.
At 2.07pm my station recorded a max gust of 79.5kmh. The wind died down around 5pm and the highest gust from 4.45pm-5.45pm was 29kmh.

At 5.45pm the power went off for 15 minutes. I have a UPS, so I powered down the PC in the correct fashion. When it came back on and the PC powered back up, the max gust in the last hour went to the 79.5kmh (same as Max Gust Today) with the time as 6.05pm. Somehow it seemed to take on the 2.07pm reading and placed it as a new event.

The same thing happened last month when I recorded a record 105kmh gust and then the power went off later that day. My records then showed two 105kmh events which wasn't the case.

I suspect somehow the highest gust of the day is being saved on power down and then when powering up, that value is being placed in the "Gust last hour" box. It's only because the values are so high that they've become noticable.

PC is runiing XP and WD is version 10.37R build74

cheers

WD checks against the davis console for its recorded max gust
so it might have been that when it compared its reading with that,it decided the consoles reading was sightly higher, which meant the time stamped used was at that time of checking
(normaly if the gust is the same as previous then a new time stamp is not assigned)
