Westerly winds across the country today with a front moving onto the South Island this morning then the North Island later this evening. Early showers clear about some North Island areas then return in the west later in the evening or overnight. Rain moves up the West Coast of the South Island, expect high cloud in the east with a few showers moving into Otago in the afternoon then further north later in the evening or overnight.

Auckland & Northland
Morning showers clear then sunny spells develop, brisk west to southwest winds. Cloud increases evening then overnight further showers move in.
Highs: 16-17

Bay Of Plenty, Waikato & Central North Island
Sunny spells and some cloud with west to southwest breezes, cloud thickens in the evening then expect overnight showers. About the Bay Of Plenty skies will be mostly sunny during the day till evening cloud arrives.
Highs: 14-18

Eastern North Island
Morning cloud clears to become mostly sunny, southwest breezes ease dying out early afternoon. High cloud develops overnight.
Highs: 17-18

Western North Island
Cloudy spells with northwesterly winds, brisk at times from afternoon. Rain develops overnight. About Taranaki early morning showers clear then a few sunny spells develop. Northwesterlies from afternoon bring increasing cloud then showers move in later in the evening.
High: 15

Wellington
Sunny to start, northerlies strengthen from morning becoming strong in the afternoon. Cloud increases afternoon onwards then overnight expect a few showers.
High: 14

Nelson
Sunny after a cool start, northwesterlies develop in the morning. Cloud increases late afternoon onwards then a few showers are possible from evening.
High: 15

Marlborough
Sunny with some high cloud thickening from afternoon, northwesterlies pick up in the morning becoming gusty in the afternoon. Overnight a few spits of rain are possible.
Highs: 17-18

Canterbury
Sunny with thickening high cloud from morning, northerly winds. Later in the evening or around midnight winds change southwest with a few showers.
Highs: 15-16

West Coast
Becoming cloudy in the morning with northerly winds, rain develops afternoon with a few heavy falls possible.
High: 13

Coastal Otago
Thickening high cloud with increasing northerlies, winds change westerly mid afternoon with showers which clear around midnight.
High: 16

Southland & Central Otago
Thickening high cloud with increasing northerlies, winds change southwest early afternoon with showers which ease evening.
Highs: 13-14
