Fairly calm conditions about the country today, any early showers clear about Canterbury and Otago with sunny areas then developing. The West Coast continues to see cloudy spells with the odd drizzle patch. For the North Island it's looking fairly dry, there is the chance of an afternoon shower about the Central North Island, inland Bay Of Plenty and ranges of Hawkes Bay and Gisborne.

Auckland & Northland
Cloudy areas with light winds tending northeasterly in the afternoon. Cloud will break to long sunny spells in the afternoon with areas of high cloud.
Highs: 18-20

Bay Of Plenty, Waikato & Central North Island
Morning cloud breaks to sunny spells with some high cloud about. Light winds. The Bay Of Plenty is likely to be mostly sunny during the day with evening cloud, afternoon northerlies there. Late afternoon and evening a few isolated showers are possible about inland Bay Of Plenty and the Central North Island.
Highs: 20-21

Eastern North Island
Sunny with light winds, afternoon sea breezes near the coast. There is the chance of a few isolated afternoon showers about the ranges of Hawkes Bay and Gisborne in the afternoon.
Highs: 19-22

Western North Island
Light winds from the westerly quarter are likely to bring cloudy periods but a few afternoon sunny spells are possible especially further inland. Any morning drizzle clears.
Highs: 18-20

Wellington
Cloudy spells with northerly breezes.
High: 16

Nelson
Sunny spells and some cloud with north to northwesterly breezes, chance of early fog.
Highs: 19-20

Marlborough
Any morning cloud clears to a mostly sunny day, north to northwesterly winds.
Highs: 20-22

Canterbury
Chance of an early shower or drizzle patch then sunny spells develop with easterly breezes. Winds tend northwest in the afternoon inland with warmer temperatures then spreading to the coast in the evening.
Highs: 17-20

West Coast
Patchy rain or drizzle with light northerlies.
Highs: 15-16

Coastal Otago
Chance of an early shower or drizzle patch then sunny spells increase, northeasterly breezes.
Highs: 14-15

Southland & Central Otago
Mostly sunny with a few flicks of high cloud, light northwesterly winds.
High: 16-19

A ridge of high pressure persists over the upper North Island, while a slow moving front affects western parts of the South Island.
