OS WMR300
« on: June 10, 2013, 08:01:20 PM »
Hi
Oregan Scientific are coming out soon with a new station, the WMR300
( you can google it for more info)
Its basicly a good ol chinese copy cat of the Davis VP
the rain gauge and temp/hum sensor housing is exactly the same as the davis
but the other components are all slightly different (e.g wind/dir upside down)
the console is similar to the WMR200
I have one here and really like it..its the best station OS have come out with
and have added support to WD to it

Woah, blatant copying of Davis VP2! The upside down anemometer looks a little odd haha. Would be interested to see how it performs on hot sunny day though. Bet it doesn't last 4+ years like most Davis stations do ;)

I have set it up outside here...to at least see if the nuts and bolts are really stainless steel :)

How does it compare in price to the Davis?
I see there are two different frequency versions. The US one is on the edge of the Vodafone 3G extended range at 915mhz. The EU version is at 868mhz which I don't think  conflicts with anything.
Can't see it stocked on the Oregon Scientific site.

Maybe it's actually using some quality parts then after all
What does the radiation shield look like - comparable to the VP2?

looks the same
and its same sensor used for temp/hum by the looks
(the humidity is working very well here (better than my tired old davis hum sensor)

How is the WRM300 going now that you have had it a few months?  I think you have or had a WMR200 at one stage - how do they compare?
