Pretty average May monthly figures. Sunshine hours were up as a result of a high number of blue-sky days, but temps were very slightly lower than normal. The sting came at month's end, with a particularly savage SSW airflow. Temps fell sharply, and snow fell to around 400 metres, briefly closing the Taupo - Napier Road. Quite a sharp frost followed. Windspeed and rainfall for the month were about normal.
