Update:
Some homes in Wairoa are without power. Eastland Network has confirmed a power outrage but cannot say how many customers are affected.

Hope it quickly passes Jenny.  They say there is 30,000 customers without power up your way and trust you have yours still on.
Looks like you have received some of the worst of it on the East.

Update - 12.00 Saturday Midnight
Rainfall for Saturday the 3rd was 42.9mm. Highest Gust remained on 85.7km/hr with a Windrun total of 497.2km. Although today's windrun was high, it was not as high as Wairoa's last day of gusty winds in 2010 when 613.3km was recorded on the 8th of July.
There are numerous branches and trees fallen from yesterdays high winds especially along Kopu Road. Debris has blown into piles along road sides with many roads covered in leaves and twiggs.
Some homes in Wairoa were without power. Eastland Network did confirmed a power outrage but did not say how many customers were affected.
While Tuai way was untouched by the high winds Nuhaka and Mahia were not. Nuhaka recorded their highest gust of 77km/hr at 2.37pm while Mahia Beach reported their highest gust to be 78.8km/hr at 1.00pm.
Rain totals for our rural areas were Tuai 9.6mm, Nuhaka 25.0mm and Mahia Beach 23.1mm.
