Hundreds watch as bank building bowled
Last updated 13:37 28/04/2013

Christchurch's skyline is changing again with the demolition of the earthquake-damaged BNZ building in Armagh Street.

Demolition of the 11-storey building began late last week and the contractor Ceres worked through the weekend, attracting hundreds of onlookers visiting the newly re-opened New Regent St.

The building looks down New Regent Street from the north.

Glenn Taylor, of building owner Tailorspace Investments, said in March, the demolition would move quickly and he expected 50 per cent of the building to down within a week.

The BNZ Armagh land has been mooted as a link between New Regent St and the Avon River, a move Taylor said the Canterbury Earthquake Recovery Authority (Cera) was "keen" on in January.
