Toronto / Pickering - Canada
FRIDAY, March 1 2013 - 12:00PM

Ha, it seems I'm the first today, since NZ is still in sleeping mode I guess (early Saturday morning).

Scary wake-up this morning:
Suddenly, a BIG yellow ball in the sky  :) (a.k.a The Sun...)
After a week of misery, Snow and Rain it's a very nice welcome!
Although, as everybody knows, each Weather pattern has its 'price'.......
The past week we 'enjoyed' above normal temperatures (+ 3 to + 5 C), however it came with LOTS of precipitation (Snow/Rain and Slush).
For now it's a strong "H" above Ontario with BRIGHT Skies & SUNNY, however the 'price' we pay is Cold and 'brisk' temperatures.....
With the Sun out there and the Snow Mountains flanking the drive-ways, it's Sunglasses  8)

Current Conditions at 12:00PM
Bright and Sunny
Temp: -2 C
Apparent Temp: - 8 C
Windchill: Brutal, due to Strong Winds (Gusts 30 - 40 km/h)
NO CLOUDS
Baro: 1013 mb (still rising quickly)
UV Index: Max = 5 (Although we're not getting 'fried' like you guys, the Spring is 'in-the-air', noticeable with an increase in UV index. The Max UV in Toronto I've recorded last summer (June/July/Aug) was 10

Cheers,

Arthur

Howick - a mixture of cloudy periods and sunny spells. Overnight low was 15C. Up to 23C at the moment. Thank goodness the wind has dropped after yesterday's blustery conditions  :)

Toronto / Pickering - Canada
Saturday, March 2 | 00:45AM

Current Conditions:
Well, it's simple. Do the test:
While still walking around in your bathing suit after a nice Saturday on the beach (I saw highs in the mid to upper twenties for Auckland), go into your kitchen, open the freezer compartment of your fridge and stick your head inside.......
That's our apparent temperature outside (- 12 C). Cold!!

On the positive side, although you're by far in the "+" when it comes to temperatures, we WIN when it comes to daylight... :)
I see we gain everyday about 2:45 mins and that's what you lose.....Only a week away from Daylight Saving Time, it means the sun will set around 19:10 a week from now, and that's the beginning of Spring!!!

At the moment:
Temp: - 6 C
Apparent Temp: - 12 C
Wind: Still breezy
Baro: 1015 mb
Sky: Awesome Clear Skies with brilliant stars (I can finally compare the [Astronomy] page on my website with the real sky outside (worthwhile to have a look, also when you want to 'learn' something about the wonderful Planets that surround us!!)

Enjoy the rest of your weekend,

Cheers,

Arthur
