OK, we're 'behind' so here's the Local Weather for SUNDAY, Feb 24 in Pickering/Toronto Canada
Temp: Steady around + 1.5 C
Precipitation: Kind of RainFlur (Mix of Drizzle Rain and Flurries)
Clouds: Overcast
Wind: Light to Moderate Breeze (some Gusts up to 20 km/h)
Visibility: Haze
Forecast for this evening: 60% Chance of Snow Flurries, Temp - 5 C
The Weekend is great for outdoors....
Despite some melting going on (finally we get rid of the snowdump 2 weeks ago) it's nice to skate...
Probably in New Zealand you're thinking of a Jet-ski or water ski, taking off from a sunny beach, in Canada we're still in the skating mood.
We're lucky to have a huge pond around the corner of my house in Altona Forest, so my son and I spend some time out there over the weekend (see attachment), and it looks like it's our 'private' skate rink, since no-one was there
Cheers,
Arthur

Port Robinson, North Canterbury 8.30am
Overcast sky which is expected to clear later this morning. Temperature 13.4° after a low of 11.2° and heading for a predicted high of 22°. I'd take at least a couple of degrees off that given the highs reached over the past few days in comparison to the predictions. No wind to speak of at the moment.

SUNDAY Evening in Ontario.....
For those thinking about my previously attached picture, don't worry. The Pond has an ice-thickness of 25 cm!!!!
Ohh, and the best way to learn how to skate can be seen in another attached photo from Max. That's the way to go..
Sunday evening in Ontario: 'Oscars' on Tv and outside a kind of 'Silence before the Storm'..
Yes, another Storm is coming this way (see forecast snapshot from AccuWeather in attachments..)
Currently:
Calm wather, slowly cooling down to below zero overnight.
No precipitation
Mainly Cloudy (with the Full Moon peaking through the clouds)
WindChill around - 1.5 C
I'm 'drooling' when I look at the weather summaries from NZ when the
'30'
is meant for Temperature and NOT expected cm in SNOW fall

Another day of heavy cloud and just no rain. It has been like this for 4 to 5 days now and we are being totally teased from above.
Temps well down this month for the east coast NI. Definitely more like March weather.
Travelled 2 hours south today. The paddocks are very dry and brown likewise the scrub. Very little feed.

avoorpool's skating lesson :)

and that picture reminds me of my first and last attempt at ice skating.
Around 6 years ago my kids took me to the skating ring in Auckland ( somewhere ).
I pushed around a frame thingy for a while but decided I felt silly and so I ditched the frame thingy.
I lasted about 3 minutes before falling backwards and hitting my head on the ice. Needless to say my head split open and I ended up in the emergency room of the hospital with blood everywhere.
The other skaters were great though. Many helped me although as you can imagine I felt even more stupid than what I had done pushing around the frame thingy.

My sympathies- I had a go at it also- didn't fall over but not for the faint hearted, that's for sure.
