Forecast in brief from the Metservice:

Wednesday
North Island, fine apart from cloudy periods in the north and east. South Island, fine apart from morning and evening cloud in the east.

Thursday
Fine apart from cloudy periods in the north and along eastern coasts.

Friday
Mostly fine apart from cloudy periods in the north and along eastern coasts. However, cloud increasing north of the Bombay Hills, and scattered late rain in the far north.

Chatham Islands
On Wednesday, mostly cloudy, with some drizzle at times. Fine spells on Thursday. Cloudy periods increasing on Friday, and northerly breezes developing.

and from Weather Watch.co.nz

There don't appear to be many clouds on the horizon this week as the dry spell continues for most of the country.
The only blemish seems to be the easterly flow over the far north and east that could bring cloudy spells and some showers from time to time.

Anniversary Day weather across Northland and Auckland should see quite humid easterly winds with cloudy and sunny spells today. There's a risk of a shower over parts of the Northland region but they should be mostly fleeting.

Temperatures yesterday managed to climb into the low thirties across inland areas of the Mainland and right throughout the week the thiries look likely to be topped and even into this coming weekend.

Our Facebook readers were certainly feeling the heat during Sunday and Philippa in the far south mentioned -  Our weather station down here in Southland said it has been around the 30 degrees mark since about 3pm. Feels like it too.
It wasn't perfect everywhere though as Gina from the far north pointed out -  Still REALLY windy here in Whangarei. About to make attempt #2 to hang washing out. Its nice though, a break from the high temps.
Taranaki enjoyed some good summer weather yesterday according to a reader -  t0o freaking hot in new plymouth. . i cant handle this kinda heat & its only in the 20s lol
Cantabrians have seen endless sunshine this summer and it hasn't gone unnoticed it seems for Mary in Christchurch - Not sure what the temp is at the moment, all I know is that its warm/hot, not a cloud in the sky and absolutely gorgeous, the best summer I remember for ages...!!.
Overnight and temperatures were slighly cooler to near average in most places however the mercury is expected to climb fairly quickly this morning.
