A container shopping mall, similar to Christchurch's Re:Start project has been floated for displaced businesses in Rangiora.

Waimakariri MP Kate Wilkinson said the City Mall Re:Start concept had proved so popular "it would be great if we could do something similar here if businesses are supportive of such an idea".

The Waimakariri District Council announced on Friday it would spend up to $88,000 to provide temporary spaces for Rangiora and Kaiapoi businesses displaced by earthquake damage.
