Long range, next week looks anticyclonic

This week is quite spring like in fashion, meaning southwesterly winds mostly. Fronts, showers, sunny dry spells and even thunderstorms are part and parcel of spring like conditions during summer.

But peering into next week conditions are looking quite settled with anticyclonic weather right from the get go on Monday.

It won’t be sunny and calm the whole time however. A weak front looks like it could affect the far south and east coast of the South Island mid week bringing cloud and a chance of drizzle but that is a while away so that prediction could change somewhat.

The top of the North Island, mainly Northland could catch the odd shower in a southeasterly airflow also around the top of the high’s that will likely be over us.

So finally after we get this week out of the way we’ll possibly be looking forward to a week of more gentler weather.

Let's hope so! Some locals here were complaining about some wind despite the fact that it was warm, dry and mainly sunny. Now they've had some karma - 3 dull days in a row with some heavy rain on 2 of them, and much cooler.
