North Island, mostly fine. South Island, patchy rain or drizzle about the west coast, clearing in Buller. Mainly fine elsewhere, but some drizzle patches in North Otago.

Sunday
Mostly fine over the country, but patchy drizzle over Westland and Fiordland, turning to rain later in the day.

Chatham Islands
Mainly fine with gusty northwesterlies on Friday. A few showers developing with cool southwesterlies on Saturday. Southwesterlies dying out on Sunday and becoming fine.
