Observation: This is getting a bit monotinous. Another warm Spring day but only a tad cooler than yesterday, not much cloud but it was unexpectedly windy today, stiff Sw Breeze that topped out at 76km at 1026am. Have now started watering the fruit trees. Mainly clear night tonight, the wind has dropped and we have an almost full moon and stars putting in another stellar appearance.
Current Recordings: Temp: 15.5c Going down, Humidty 85%, Rain: 0.0 mm, Average Wind Speed (10 Mins) 7 km/h WSW, Pressure 1015.3 hPa Rising.

Upper North Island
Cloudy areas with some sun mainly during the afternoon, breezy westerly winds. Weather will be mostly sunny about the Bay Of Plenty during the day apart from evening cloud, winds will be westerly there also. The odd light shower develops overnight in most places as winds tend more southwest. Sunny with some high cloud at first in Gisborne with light winds, winds tend light southerly around midday then northeast during the afternoon with areas of cloud but still sunny areas about.
HIGHS: 20-21 for most. 23-25 about Bay Of Plenty and Gisborne.
Lower North Island
Breezy westerly winds tending more northwest about the Kapiti Coast and Wellington, expect mostly cloudy skies with a few sunny breaks during the afternoon especially about Wellington and the CNI. Expect the odd shower about the Tararua Ranges becoming a bit more widespread late evening in the west as winds tend more southwest. High cloud at first in Wairarapa and Hawkes Bay with northwesterlies, winds tend light southerly mid morning then northeast during the afternoon with areas of cloud but still sunny areas about.
HIGHS: Temperatures in the high teens in the west. Low 20’s about the Central North Island. 24-25 about Wairarapa and Hawkes Bay.
Upper South Island
Cloudy skies on the West Coast north of Hokitika with northwesterlies, expect the odd shower mainly in North Westland then easing during the afternoon as winds change southwest. Mostly sunny about Nelson with light winds picking up a little from the west late afternoon. Southwesterly breezes ease off about Canterbury and Marlborough this morning, northeasterlies freshen up especially along the coast this afternoon. Expect sunny weather in Marlborough, some cloud at times in Canterbury. Later in the evening light southerlies flick through Canterbury bringing some further cloud and the low risk of a shower.
HIGHS: 17 on the West Coast, low 20’s in Nelson. 18-19 in Canterbury. 23-24 in Marlborough
Lower South Island
Becoming mostly sunny this morning with westerly breezes, some cloud developing about Southland during the afternoon with westerlies strengthening possibly gusting to gale force about the coast in the evening. Becoming mostly sunny about Fiordland this morning with southwest breezes, some cloud increasing overnight however. Morning showers ease then gradually clear about South Westland, sunny breaks there in the afternoon with southwest breezes.
HIGHS: 16-17 for most , 21-22 for inland Otago, 15 on the West Coast south of the Glaciers.

Some areas are having a tough time shaking the clouds this morning. Auckland, Chirstchurch, and Queenstown are just some of the areas that have a fair amount of cloud cover this morning. Greymouth has not only been cloudy, but has also seen some rain.
Breezy conditions can be found around parts of New Zealand as well. WeatherWatch.co.nz Facebook Reader Andrea Hammond reports that it’s windy and cold in Rotorua today. Hamilton and Te Awamutu are also a bit breezy this morning. However, skies are bright over the western and northern Waikato despite having a quite few clouds there as well.
It looks like some of the best weather this morning is in Wellington and Gisborne. Both locations are seeing plenty of sunshine.
Temperatures at last hour included 13 at Hokitika, 14 at Invercargill and Dunedin, 15 at Christchurch, 16 at New Plymouth, 18 at Auckland, 19 at Wellington, 22 at Gisborne and 23 at Hamilton.

Pockets of sun and showers around NZ

Most of the country is seeing dry weather today. There have been peeks of sunshine in many areas. It's been very sunny in some eastern regions like Gisborne. But there are still plenty of clouds and some rather breezy conditions as well. Despite that, most areas are precipitation-free.
Except for the western regions of the South Island and a few isolated parts of the North Island.
Showers have been falling along the West Coast for much of the day. Originally, it looked like these would ease off by early this afternoon. However, they are still hanging around.
A few showers also popped up over a small part of the central North Island around Rotorua earlier today.
A few light showers were also found along the ranges overlooking the Kapiti Coast.
