Thanks very much for the good wishes guys! We will be having a lunch at nice Cuba St restaurant. A bigger family meal & evening coming up on Saturday with daughter, son-in-law and g'children.

Expecting more sun later in the morning - breezier now but quite mild.

Thanks Babs and Gabba! Off to lunch soon in the sunshine (and wind).

Among other things, got some DVDs of the old Twilight Zone TV seres with Rod Serling - 60s nostalgia. I liked his narration of the Cousteau underwater trips, too.

Thank you very much Tom and Jenny! Some chocolate matter to get through in the next couple of days - including a bar of Butler's, a favourite.

Had a very nice lunch, finished with pavlova with passion fruit and rhubarb and another ingredient I can't recall. Absolutely delicious!!

Thanks Mark, it's been a good day.

Looking at the Climate Explorer maps for the month so far, about 95% of the country has been drier than average with parts of Southland & Central Otago under 10% of normal. Temperatures look like about a 50-50 split (colder than average in the south of the NI and parts of the east of the SI) - some cold nights have probably contributed. The rest of the month might push the numbers up a little. Sunshine up almost everywhere with almost the entire SI and about half of the NI 25% or more above average.
