All Change
« on: September 25, 2012, 09:39:06 AM »
Over a month of rain in the last 24 hours and more on its way. The last couple of days have been so dark that the lights have been required. So, a dry September has turned into a wet one and may be a very wet one.
Needless to say that the heating has also been required, now that temperatures have dropped considerably.

would help somewhat if you could expand on this
i.e the fact its due to a low pressure system that was spawned from a tropical low over the azores
hence lots of rain

In his round about way the beteljuice was inferring An observation does not demand an explanation, although it may be pertinent to do so.

problem is, for people in NZ, if you are not following the weather patterns in the UK, then its hard to know what a single observation is relating to and in what context, etc

a link to a weather map of the situation that has brought about the observation would be usefull
in my opinion

I don't know if this will reproduce but its worth a try.
The image shows the pressure regions over the UK.
Needless to say, it is peeing down again today; well you can't have everything, unless its all in one day :)
For those not familiar with the weird shape of the UK: you need to scroll the image and look for a big LOW. :)

The big LOW was supposed to have moved towards the Irish sea since yesterday, but is sitting smack in the middle of the UK. The predicted pressure was supposed to have risen to 994 but is actually 982, which is exactly the same as yesterday.
There is extensive flooding around the UK and it is particularly bad in the more northern areas. Yesterday there was a rain cloud over Durham reported to be over ten miles high. I dread to think, how much water that contained.
