Massive flash floods in Pakistan
-More than 30 killed in flash floods in northern and central Pakistan.
-Most of the deaths reported from Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province where some 15 people died. More than a hundred have been homeless in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province and Kashmir.
-Authorities in Nowshera district declared an flood emergency following heavy rains.
-The Metrological Department (MD) has forecast more heavy rains in Kashmir, Punjab, Islamabad, and KP.

Flooding in Phuket, Thailand
-Heavy rainfall flooded Phuket,
-Heavily hit by the flood was Thepkasatri road, particularly at Satri Phuket School and Sam Kong intersections.

Flash floods in Myanmar
-Recent floods in Myanmar displaced at least 85,000 people.
-Displaced people are taking shelters at 219 emergency relief centers set up at schools and monasteries.

Flash floods in Ningxia Hui, China
-Five killed and one missing in northwest China.
-The flash flood was reported at a mountain ravine in the Dawukou district of Shizuishan city.
-More than 100 police and fire fighters are searching for the one missing.

Flash floods in Jaipur, India
-At least 10 reported to be killed in flash floods in Jaipur, India.
-Heavy rains since Tuesday night have also led to water logging in many parts of the city, especially the low-lying areas.
-The state capital of Rajasthan received 160 mm rainfall on Wednesday morning.

Flash floods in Bauchi, Nigeria
-Four people reported to be killed in floods across Bauchi state of Northern Nigeria. The deaths were recorded in Dass, Misau and Toro area.
-Gaina, Gugulin, Zadawa, Gwaram, Arobana and parts of Misau town are the worst hit areas.

Flash floods in South Darfur, Sudan
-Five killed in floods in Gereida, South Darfur region.
-Heavy rains and floods also caused massive destruction in Zamzam IDP Camp.

Flooding in Russia
-Death toll from flooding in the Black Sea region of southern Russia has risen to 104.
-More than 1,000 people are reported to be displaced by this flood.
-Around 92 people killed in Krymsk, about 1,200 kilometers (750 miles) south of Moscow.
-All the trains heading to and from Novorossiisk are suspended.
-Gelendzhik is the worst flood hit area where five people received electric shock and died after a transformer fell on the ground. Five other bodies were found in debris.
-More than 300 houses reported to be flooded.
-Seventeen power substations are temporarily closed in Southern Russia due to which around 20,000 people are said to be without electricity.
-It is believed to be worst flood in last 70 years.

Deadliest floods in Russian History
1824 St. Petersburg flood: The largest flood occurred on November 19, 1824 in which 10,000 people were killed. The second severest flood was in 1924.
Southern Federal District, heavy rain, landslide (2002): At least 110 people were killed and damage in the region was calculated at more than $400 million.

Flooding in Las Vegas, United States
-A cluster of thunderstorms caused flooding in several areas of the Las Vegas valley.
-Following the Nevada Highway Patrol, there were more than 100 crashes on Las Vegas-area roads and freeways, but no serious injuries.
-Delays for flights reported at McCarran International Airport.

Flash floods in Maricopa, Arizona
-State of emergency declared for Maricopa flooding.
-Road crews are reporting a large amount of water in the Tortosa area of Dalli Lane and Madrid Avenue.
-Officials said approximately four homes in the area were directly affected.
Flash floods in Greensboro, North Carolina
-Five families evacuated from an apartment building on Hahns Lane because of flooding.
-The National Weather Service had issued a flash flood warning for Guilford and Randolph counties.

Tropical Storm Isaac
-As of 12:00 UTC, TS Isaac was located 150 km ESE of Guantanamo Cuba and 170 km SSW of Great Inagua Island.
-Tropical Storm Isaac makes landfall in Haiti.
-A Hurricane Warning is in effect for the Florida Keys including the Dry Tortugas, the West Coast of Florida from Bonita Beach southward and Florida Bay.
-Isaac is moving toward the northwest near 14 mph.

Typhoon Tembin
-As of 03:00 UTC, Typhoon Tembin was located 185 nm southeast of Taipei, Taiwan.
-Eastern Taiwan could be the hardest hit, with accumulated precipitation forecast to reach some 1,000 mm.

Typhoon Bolaven
-As of 03:00 UTC, Typhoon Bolaven was located 580 nm southeast of Kadena AB, Okinawa, Japan.
Tropical Depression Joyce
-As of 03:00 UTC, TD Joyce was located 1930 km E of the Leeward Islands.
-The depression is moving toward the west-northwest near 14 mph.

Heat wave in Rome, Italy
-Heat wave collapsed 19th century wall, one of Rome's most historic squares -- Piazza del Popolo.
-It is believed to be a direct consequences of the extreme climate.First there was snow, then a very rainy winter and now a very dry summer.

Wildfires in Northern California
-A state of emergency declared and some 3,000 people evacuated after wildfire in Northern California.
-Fire has burned 9700 hectares so far and has already destroyed 64 homes.
-Wildfire destroyed 50 buildings in Manton, N. California.
-Nearly 1,900 firefighters struggled to control the blaze.

Wildfire in Clinton, Canada
-About 50 residents left their homes in the Cariboo region due to a large wildfire which has burned 100 hectares.

Wildfire in Dry Creek, Alaska
-Fire near Fairbanks burned 42,000 acres. Air quality advisories issued.

Thanks Jenny for keeping us informed of the disasters overseas - terible arent they.  I knew about the wildfire etc but not about all that flooding.
