Waitakere
Frequent showers from 1pm have added almost another 10 mm to our morning tally so we are now sitting at 29.8 mm for the day so far, temperature did get up to 14.1°C but is now 11.1°C
Looks very wet around here.

This is our first dry day after 8 rain days in a row. Mind a few of them were only drizzle.
Been overcast and threatening all day but nothing happened.
Mild on 13.4 but thats a Northerly for you.

Mostly cloudy over the whole of New Zealand today and it will be wet and windy is the short answer. There are a few exceptions however and we can get more detailed.
North of Auckland there will be mostly cloudy skies but also a few peaks of sunshine, a few showers moving through at times. Winds will be gusty from the northwest. Rain about Taranaki, the Waikato and western Bay of Plenty where it will be heavy will ease in the morning to a few showers by midday as gusty northeasterlies change northwest, chance of a few sunny spells in these areas in the afternoon also.
Rain for eastern Bay of Plenty with heavy falls developing this morning then easing to showers in the evening as strong northeasterlies change northwest. Rain about the Central North Island eases to showers in the evening as winds change northwest also however it shouldn't be as heavy, rain may be heavy in the northeast.
Showers will develop about the Manawatu, Wellington, Hawkes Bay and Wairarapa this morning with gusty northeasterlies, winds change west to northwest at night with showers clearing in Hawkes Bay. Rain develops about East Cape this morning becoming heavy at times with strong northeasterlies then clears at night as winds change northwest. Temperatures today ranging between 13 and 16 degrees for most.
Mostly cloudy along the West Coast of the South lsland with showers at times, long dry periods to especially south of Hokitika and gusty southeasterlies, heavy rain in Fiordland eases early in the morning then gale force southeasterlies develop in the afternoon. Gusty easterlies about Nelson with rain easing for a time in the evening.
Periods of rain in Southland with snow to 500m by evening, southeasterlies increase during the day becoming strong at times later. From Otago through to Marlborough expect light showers or drizzle to have turned to rain by midday, east to southeasterly winds will increase during the day becoming brisk by evening. Rain becoming heavy at times by evening also with snow to 800m in Otago.
Temperatures tomorrow ranging from 9 to 11 degrees from Southland and up the east coast. Low teen temperatures can be expected on the West Coast and about Nelson.

Severe weather threat update

A frontal boundary associated with the strengthening Tasmanian low could bring a round of thunderstorms to the North Island this afternoon and tonight.
WeatherWatch.co.nz forecasters say the greatest risk for thunderstorms will be from the Coromandel Peninsula to Auckland…then south through the Waikato and western Bay of Plenty to Taranaki. Auckland and Coromandel are running a low risk for thunderstorms. Bay of Plenty, Waikato and Taranaki are running a moderate risk. However, there is a high risk for pockets of heavy showers across these regions.
Government forecaster MetService has also highlighted this area as running a moderate risk for thunderstorms this afternoon and tonight. Small tornadoes are possible, but the greatest threat is from heavy rainfall and strong winds. MetService feels that rainfall rates of 10-15mm/hr are possible with wind gusts up to 90 km/h.
This is despite that fact that some sunshine is actually being seen today. Auckland, Hamilton, Pirongia and Te Awamutu are just some areas that have seen sunshine today.
Heavy rain warnings remain in place for the Coromandel Peninsula, Bay of Plenty, East Cape/Gisborne, south-eastern Wairarapa and the north and east of the South Island. Heavy rain should begin to ease about the Coromandel Peninsula and Bay of Plenty this evening. Gisborne and Hawkes Bay should see the heavy rain threat ease tonight. Wairarapa could see the heavy rain threat continue into early Tuesday morning.
In Canterbury, the Dunedin district and North Otago rain is expected to become heavy this afternoon. Heavy rain could linger into Tuesday afternoon for Canterbury, but may ease about Dunedin overnight tonight or early tomorrow morning.

We had a windy day here on Norfolk Island, a cool wind blowing up through the Tasman Sea. The swell is growing 5metre SSW and increasing over the next few days. Must be photo time (:
Low of 14` and high 18`.
High winds with a few heavy showers over night, but a sunny day today.
Time for some winter clothes I think.
