Christchurch 1971-2000 A.V.G Temperatures

We use to see how much warmer cooler our monthly and yearly avg temperature have been here in Christchurch by using the 1971-2000 avg.
The question is how accurate is this when there is 4 years of missing data?.
1971,1972 and two more years which im not sure of.
i got this info from Niwa.

According to NIWA's Clifo Ch'ch Aero is complete for all 360 months, Ch'ch Gardens for 356 months, so only 4 months missing from the latter. With good correlation the remaining values could be interpolated from the Aero given the known differences. If you do the appropriate query you can download all the months' data.

If you want to know the monthly averages, I have the mean max/mean min/mean for both sites (this can also be downloaded, or I could cite them).
