I have a Samsung Galaxy 10.1, its brilliant for doing a lot of things. I dont have tapatalk so going on forums can be a bit slow, I just using the Opera browser, which someone on here pointed me to.
Apart from that I find it amazing, I can email, read the news sites, play games, write up blogs, in fact do most of the things my desktop PC can do. I can even video call Ross on it from home to when he is in his office.
I sit in my recliner and tap away on it, you do have to have wifi set up though.
I firstly got a Samsung Galaxy S Smartphone then we got the tablets. Makes one very mobile.
Hope that helps.
They are coming down in price and you can pick up bargains if you keep your eyes open.

I've been using a 7" Samsung Galaxy Tab imported from the USA for about 18 months and it's replaced my laptop. With bluetooth it can interface with my car radio and play music between Cheviot and ChCh (lousy radio reception 50kms north). I've read more books in the 18months using it as an E reader than the previous 5 years. I can even control all my PC's using Teamviewer with it. It's a great toy. I did try a chinese one with a resistive screen (rather than capacitive) prior to buying the samsung which turned out to be junk. My advice to anyone thinking of buying a tablet is to stick with mainstream brands.
