New Plymouth: 15.6 degrees, overcast, humid, light NW.
Where is the high rainfall rainfall met service has been talking about for the past 24 hrs? And the next 12 hrs?
Yet again, another hyped media release?
Actual figures: Airport: 11.4mm to midnight. New Plymouth: 6.5mm to midnight. Since midnight, 7.5mm.

I gather there's a front stuck somewhere to the north and west of you - Kawhia area was getting some action apparently (read this on another forum).

I notice the taranaki rain radar is showing alot of wave reflection junk/clutter at the moment
making it look like its raining off NP
(due to the big NW swell)

Has now warmed up somewhat and humidly has dropped from the earlier 98% down to 84%.
Still no real rain here yet but looks to be going at it towards Te Puke, had one huge clap of thunder mid morning but nothing since.
Are we going to get any rain here? Who knows, it could well all go around us.

the BOP usually does well for CB lines out of the NW
but the main instability has not yet moved into the BOP yet
there is though some rain areas moving over the CORO now
which could easily become more active as that moves into the relatively warm water of the BOP
so in short, yes, you are likely to get some good CB lines later today or overnight I would say
there is lots of squally shower lines expected tomorrow

At our particular location Brian, we frequently miss out on rain that they get only a couple of km down the road and the same up the road - the weather literally goes around us. We do also sometimes have the reverse happen, makes it interesting working out what is going to happen. This means we do sometimes get a grandstand view of all that CB activity without the downside.
It is more guessable in Te Puke itself being hard up against the hills.

New Plymouth: mostly fine afternoon, some sun, 17.2 degrees. Some heavy showers earlier in the day, with a few rumbles of thunder.
Looks like we may get another shower or two, hard to tell.
Since 9am:
15mm for me. 17mm for the Regional Council Station at Brooklands, approx 2km away from my place.
33mm for North Egmont Visitors Centre.
