Some very high month-to-date sun totals in some places. To 16th Nelson has 140.5 hrs, New Plymouth 138.4, Tekapo 134.9. NZ record total for April is 246 hours at Nelson in 2005.

A fine clear morning, albeit with some pastel high level haze with some thin strip cumulus in rows as a bright contrast.
An overnight low of 8.9ºC and has risen now to 10.3ºC.
A coolish 10-25km/hr sou-easterly blows outside...
Skies mostly clear ... blue - blue... Should be another nice Indian Summer day...

Overcast at first, then some brief brighter spells developed around the middle of the day. Cloud increased again in the mid-afternoon. Moderate SW wind, and mild pm temps, with wind-chill readings hovering around 10 – 12 C.
