Babs blog June
« on: June 11, 2017, 03:51:56 PM »
I havent written anything on here for a long while and for that I am truly sorry, pills, potions, doctors and specialists seem to get in the way.

Have you ever wondered what the people behind the weather stations and behind the comments on the forum actually look like? well here's two of them from the hilltop in Kelson!

Seems like Mr India Microsoft is back as three mornings in a row I have had odd phone calls from some idiot wanting to fix my computer. The only way I can get rid of him is to say I don't have a computer, they get angry, swear and hang up. For a few days he started ringing in the evenings they surely know how to disrupt your relaxing time.

I have taken to carrying the landline phone with me during the day or have it on a table close by. As the mother in law is not well I need access to a landline as she hasn't grasped the way to use either a smart phone or cell phone.

I was thinking of getting a whistle and blowing it very loudly in his ear or screaming or telling him it was the local Police Station cos they don't like that, any on any suggestions on how to get rid of this idiot would be greatly appreciated

I think I've mentioned before, we've been plagued by these vermin for years. Once your phone number is in their computer system, it is automatically dialled and once you answer it, it is handed over to a call-centre human. We have caller ID and I check the number these days before answering. Anything with that doesn't look like a genuine number doesn't get picked up which includes number withheld calls which are usually cold callers anyway.
I thought of a whistle, but (a) they might get even more aggressive, or (b) the calls will still continue anyway because you're in their computer and when it flicks it over to the human, a warning will come up on the call centre screen what to expect and they won't pick it up. I'm afraid you're stuck with the calls unless you change your phone number.

I have just had a funny few days with the same Indian person which may give you a smile.
Thursday morning phone call.
"Hi my name is Sam. Madam your are running MS windows and it is showing errors at our end".
"Oh" says me "it is? Which windows, XP 7 or 10"?
"They will all be infected" says him. "Sit at your main one and I will help you fix it".
"Ok I am sitting at my main one, what shall I do"
"Open up My computer, C Drive and find the Windows folder" say Sam.
"I dont have a Windows Folder" says me
"yes you do" says Sam. "What windows are you running madam"?
"I am running Mageia, Linux on my Computer" says me.

Slam, Sam hung up......  which left me laughing as you can guess.

Friday morning.
Phone rings, same number showing on caller ID.
I picked it up.
"Hi this is Sam, I am ringing on behalf of ms windows", he says.
"Hi Sam" I said. " How are you today".
"You have something wrong with your PC madam" says Sam.
"Yes Sam but we fixed them Yesterday. You rang yesterday and we fixed them" says me
"We did" says Sam. "what is my name then?"
"Your name is Sam" I said.
"What is my last name" asks Sam.
" How would I know, I cant read minds" says me. Any ways we fixed my PC yesterday and now I am hanging up.

I hung up the phone.

10 minutes later the phone rang and same number.

I picked it up and said " Hi Sam "   and I was laughing.
He said " Do you know why I keep ringing you"?
I said" no I dont Sam".
He said " Its cause I love you"

With that I burst out laughing and said "fair enough Sam, bye now" and I hang up.
I have not heard from Sam since.
