Showers in the morning then clearing.

Waikato to Kapiti, Taumarunui, Taupo, Taihape
Showers, some heavy.

Gisborne and Hawkes Bay
Fine.

Wellington and Wairarapa
Fine, apart from a shower or two late afternoon mainly about southern Wairarapa.

Nelson, Marlborough and Canterbury
Mainly fine. However a few showers possible about the Banks Peninsula this afternoon.

Otago
A few showers, falling as snow to 400 metres, clearing by afternoon then fine.

Buller, Westland, Fiordland, Southland
Showers, some squally and thundery with hail. Snow to 300 metres in Fiordland and Southland overnight and 400 metres in Westland. Showers easing during the morning, however rain developing in Westland and Fiordland at night.
