Nelson and Marlborough excluding Kaikoura Coast
Frequent showers, some heavy and possibly thundery, clearing by evening.

Kaikoura Coast and North Canterbury
Scattered rain clearing this morning, but developing again this evening.

Remainder of Canterbury, Otago and Southland
Drizzle turning to rain this morning with some heavy falls. Snow lowering to 400 metres in Otago and Southland tonight.
