Over the North Island, from Taranaki, Taihape and Hawkes Bay northwards
Rain or showers, falling as snow on the Central Plateau above 900 metres at first. Isolated thunderstorms about eastern Bay of Plenty and Gisborne this afternoon. Becoming fine over most places this evening.

Wanganui, Manawatu and Kapiti
Fine spells and isolated showers.

Wairarapa, Wellington
Rain easing this evening.

Nelson, Buller and Westland
Long fine spells, but isolated showers developing this afternoon, some heavy and possibly thundery with hail in the north.

Fiordland
Fine.

Marlborough, Canterbury and eastern Otago
Scattered showers, with hail and snow to 800 metres, easing this morning, clearing later. Showers, some heavy and possibly thundery with hail in Marlborough this afternoon.

Inland Otago and Southland
Light rain easing this morning. Isolated afternoon showers inland. Becoming fine this evening.

Chatham Islands
Rain easing to showers this morning.
