Northland to Waikato, including Coromandel
Scattered rain becoming widespread this evening with possible thunderstorms overnight. Turning to showers tomorrow afternoon.

Waitomo to Wellington, also Bay of Plenty, the central high country and Wairarapa
Fine at first but rain developing by evening. Showers tomorrow, with some heavy falls and thunderstorms possible from Kapiti northwards.

Gisborne and Hawkes Bay
Fine apart from scattered rain overnight tonight.

Nelson and Buller to Fiordland
Rain with heavy falls developing this afternoon. Turning to showers tonight and becoming squally tomorrow with heavy falls, hail and thunderstorms. Clearing clearing south of Hokitika tomorrow night.

Marlborough to Southland
High cloud with a few spots of rain this afternoon, then becoming fine tonight. Isolated showers tomorrow, with thunderstorms and hail possible in eastern Otago and Southland.

Chatham Islands
Occasional rain developing tonight.
