A uniform pale grey sky and light snow flurries with a temperature of 1 C, more snow is predicted over the next few days but it is not warming up and melting, so the pile of snow just gets bigger and icier. The difference in the heat absorbing capability of various materials becomes very obvious, with pockets of zero snow above stone slabs and a uniform solid covering over grass and earth. I think it is going to take some prolonged sunshine to warm up the soil and that is going to delay any planting significantly.
