Periods of rain, with some heavy falls, especially about North Taranaki, easing this evening.

Gisborne and the remainder of Hawkes Bay
Mostly cloudy. A few showers, turning to rain for a time this morning.

Nelson and Marlborough except the Kaikoura Coast
Occasional showers, clearing this evening.

Kaikoura Coast and Canterbury
Mostly fine, however, a few showers, mainly about the High Country and South Canterbury.

Otago and Southland
Scattered showers developing towards midday, some heavy and thundery, easing tonight.

Buller, Westland and Fiordland
Periods of rain, sometimes heavy and possibly thundery, easing to a few showers in Fiordland this evening.

Chatham Islands
Occasional rain developing this morning.
