wysiwyg Web Builder/Editor Help please
« on: June 28, 2015, 04:59:43 PM »
One of our members is looking for a wysiwyg web builder/editor to replace the confusing one he is using.
I am not much help here as I do my pages using a txt editor.

If anyone could offer advise here it would be appreciated.
Preferably a free builder/writer.

I have searched around and there are heaps out there but they all look much the same.
Hopefully someone here will be using a builder they could recommend.

Cheers
Jenny

Get yourself a copy of Microsoft Expression Web. It was a paid product, but Microsoft made it free. It does css nicely, and has the ability to upload through the program directly to the server (or even edit to the server directly if you are into that sort of thing). There are additional tools in the expression suite that may also be of use

It's my go to tool both when I need to edit code directly and when I need to create / alter static pages

Thanks Gabba,
That is the one he was using and does not like.

Can anyone suggest a more simple one please.

Cheers

What's not to like about it?  :)

That would give us an idea of what features to look out for. I would suspect that most are now at least as complicated as Expression Web.

Is it just a matter of having someone to help out, figuring out the software? I'm pretty familiar with it if that's a help

Alternatively what about a CMS like wordpress. Might be overkill as a tool, but it really depends on the issues they are having

Cheers

Ms word can save html files. It writes messy code, but it works and would be great if the person was using it anyway.

Will have to upload the files manually, which would mean respecting all the structure links.

It's possible that other word processors can do the same.

I use Joomla which is a CMS for my websites.  It;s quite similar to Wordpress which is another very well known CMS.  I then use the JCK editor with this and it is very much like using Microsoft Word in terms of creating pages.  They have a new inline editor now available but i have not tried it -its called Ark Editor.
