Whole of the North Island
Showers, some heavy and possibly thundery with hail, clearing most places in the morning, but a few light showers linger in the west from Taranaki northwards.

Marlborough, Nelson and Buller
Scattered showers, some heavy with hail in Marlborough, clearing early morning and becoming mainly fine. Drizzle developing in Buller from evening.

Westland and Fiordland
Mainly fine but morning showers in southern Fiordland. Rain with heavy falls spreading north in the evening.

Canterbury, Otago and Southland
Fine spells, and isolated morning showers. Rain developing about the high country and Southland at night. Northwest gales developing later in exposed inland places, possibly severe.

Chatham Islands
Showers, some heavy with hail, clearing in the evening.
