Neuquén – Thirty stranded vehicles were removed from Provincial Route 13, which had been isolated by the first major snowfall of the season, said provincial director of Provincial Roads, Carlos Schenk.
Snow accumulated to 40 cm (16 inches) in the mountainous area.
Route 13, the 26 from Caviahue Copahue, Primeros Pinos and Pine Hachado step, which opened 11.30, is passable with extreme caution. The use of chains for all vehicles is required.
This morning, teams continue working to clear roads and the outlook is encouraging for the weekend, but the snow will continue, so the official estimated that only tomorrow the roads would be opened to traffic.
Snow started falling yesterday in different parts of the province according to the Provincial Department of Roads making it impossible to travel without chains in some of the provincial roads.
Provincial Highway 26 was impassable yesterday from Caviahue to Copahue, by accumulating snow on roadway and white wind.
Route 13 was also impassable in Zapala – Primeros Pinos because of snow accumulation on the road and zero visibility in wind and whiteout – Litráne Primeros Pinos were sectors with ice and snow. (..)

From the local weather station, Mario Rifo reported that the snow was not foreseen in the weather reports.
“We were surprised because it was intended unsettled weather with chance of wind, but there was no mention of rain or snow. Today (yesterday ) very early the sky was covered, then it rained and then the snow started.
