Makes you wonder sometimes
« on: January 22, 2014, 09:55:45 AM »
This from the Daily Mail in the UK about the lastest big earthquake to hit New Zealand, the spelling is theirs: I found this orginally on the NZ Herald site

Scores of passengers miraculously avoided death or injury today when a powerful earthquake rocked New Zealand and sent a two-ton eagle sculpture promoting The Hobbit movie crashing down at Wellington airport.

The 6.3 magniture earthquake rocked the centre of the country, damanging buildings and sending boulders rolling down hills up and down the country between Auckland in the north and Dunedin on the tip of the south island.

The shudder was felt throughout most of the country but there were no immediate reports of serious injury or death.

Also, whoever wrote that boulders were rolling down hills up and down the country should be rolled down a hill... what nonsense journalism  :o

Factually correct but someone does need to learn the value of using a comma in a sentence. Some capitilisation also wouldn't go amiss  - South Island, since thats the official name now - then I'm not one to talk!

NZ sounds like a terrible place to visit - always dodging boulders that randomly fall and rollaround the place, and eagles that swoop from the sky dropping their "bits" on scores of people.

I did wonder what I saw bouncing down the Hutt after the quake, it must have been one of those boulders on their way to Dunedin.

Wonder if that's where all the Moeraki Boulders came from!

The boulders have probably landed where the Moas are who are sitting on them thinking they are giant eggs sent to hatch!
