Cloudy skies with north to northeasterly winds, patchy rain, pehaps some drizzle too. Dry spells now and then also.

Eastern North Island
Plenty of high cloud with northerly winds, a little gusty at times in the afternoon. Warm temperatures.

Western North Island
Mainly cloudy skies with breezy northerly winds. Patchy areas of rain with dry spells now and then. Rain more persistent about Taranaki, especially the north of the region where heavy falls are possible.

Patchy rain with a period of more persistent rain during the afternoon, breezy northerly winds.

Morning cloud clears to a mostly sunny afternoon with a few whiffs of high cloud, northeasterly breezes.

Sunny with some high cloud, light winds tend northerly.

A few early showers clear then expect sunny areas and some high cloud, light winds tend northeast. A few isolated showers may develop late afternoon and evening any of which clear at night.

A moist northerly flow is bringing rain to many parts of northern and central New Zealand. An active trough in this flow should cross New Zealand during Saturday night and Sunday morning. Heavy rain is expected from Saturday afternoon or evening through to Sunday morning for Taranaki, Nelson, Richmond ranges, Marlborough Sounds, and the Tararua Range. Rainfall totals up to midday Sunday are likely to reach 100mm in these areas with the heaviest falls of 200mm about Mt Taranaki. The rain is likely to be intense at times tonight with thunderstorms.
